Artist Statement
Wild landscape and highly detailed scenes are my subject of choice and I strive to include the viewer in my visual journey and interpretations on the natural world and human nature that surrounds me.
The painting Ucluelet is from a spectacularly scenic area on Vancouver Island and I want the viewer to feel as if they are part of the painting, feeling the mist on their face from the rolling fog, and experience the dampness of the moisture on the ancient boulders hugging the shoreline.
We are presented daily with information on climate change and the environment and with the constant barrage, some people block the information out when they are trying to go about living their life. If I am successful in achieving my artistic goal, the viewer will let the calmness and feeling of peace and solitude envelope them. This would hopefully refocus them and translate the environmental beauty around us into a topic of interest for them and the community, and engage more in what is important. Saving our planet.
